• Management of cattle operations -  which consist of formulating an operational budget based upon projected income (Projected income based upon available resources i.e. Number of calves and cull cows available for sale. Amount of surplus hay for sale.).
• Management of cow herd - breeding, herd health, pasture management, winter feed program, marketing, and maximizing cow production.
• Management of yearlings - weaning, health program, pasture management, feed program, marketing, and maximizing growth.
• Pasture management - management and improvement of pastures including maintenance of fences and incorporation and construction of new fences to improve grazing. Management of water sources to improve grazing. Control grazing to improve pastures by promoting increased growth of desired species while decreasing growth of undesired species.
• Hay production - management of hay fields to promote growth of desired species, increase production without increasing costly use of fertilizers, timely cutting and baling of hay to produce highest quality hay possible in order to lower winter feed cost, marketing of surplus hay.
• Record keeping - livestock production, expenses and sales, creating spread sheets to monitor production and expenses.
• Labor - hiring workers, organizing daily work schedule and payroll.
• Purchasing - purchasing equipment and supplies while working within the operating budget and maintaining accurate records.
• Equipment - operation, maintenance and repair of farm machinery.

I provide consultant services for management of livestock operations, catering to first time owners of agriculture property and first time owners of livestock.

I provide hands-on training and consultation as clients address questions concerning the use and management of agriculture land.

• After developing short and long term goals for the land and livestock operation, I will help my client develop a plan to reach that goal.
• Establish a starting point.
• Establish a timeline for reaching their goal based upon available capital and cash flow.
• Determine what work will be performed by the owner and what work will be performed by hired labor or contractors.
• Determine whether this will be a cow/calf or yearling operation.
• Determine which breed of cattle to raise based on which market is being targeted as well as which is the best breed of cattle adapted to the local environment.
• Develop a breeding plan.
• Determine herd size.
• Create a herd health program.
• Establish a forage management and winter feeding plan.
• Develop a plan for hay production.
• Create a marketing plan.
• Establish adequate perimeter fencing and cross fencing.
• Determine the design and construction of corrals.

I provide my clients with hands-on training in the handling and care of horses and cattle with an emphasis on safety.
